Newness of Life
Typically when reflecting on the New Year, one likes to look back and recognize all of the blessings that occurred within the 365 days, the struggles they faced, and even what they want to work on throughout the beginning of the new chapter of life. 2020, was definitely one of those years where you begin to draw a blank and wonder, what blessings did occur? In the midst of turmoil, we often become distracted and fail to recognize all of the blessings God has placed on this earth to shield us from the challenges of every day life. Yes, this year has been FULL of boredom, sickness, challenges, and unhappy times. But through all of this, God has created blessings far greater than we could ever imagine. I know for me, quarantine at the beginning of the March got old. However, looking back on it, I was gifted with the presence of more family time, as well as time to truly take a step back and be still. Going into 2021, I have no direct certainties of whats to come. However, the verse I am meditating on this year is Psalm 46:10 - “Be still, and know that I am God”
When working towards finding a verse I could find peace and comfort in in the midst of uncertainties ahead, I fell across this one. Though these words, we are reminded that no matter what valley we are walking through, we can always lean on God and be still in that very moment. We can give him the steer and let him guide us through the waves. We do not have to walk this journey alone, and he is wanting us to seek him through our knowledge and belief in all of his greatness.
This year, my biggest goal is to look towards God, no matter what my day is like. Not only is he there to help us be still and lean on his promises for our life, but he is there for us to thank him for all of the amazing blessings we do encounter in day to day life, whether they be big or small. Life is hard, but God is greater!
2021 !!!! may it be filled with: normalcy and acceptance, love and peace, and stillness in the valley of darkness. No matter what this year brings, God has a plan, and we can choose to BE STILL>>>>>>>>
