A Moment To Breathe
I sat in my room stressed about the week ahead. So much work in such little time. How was I going to manage to get it all done, and do it well? Lies flowed throughout my head as I began to feel overwhelmed by all the tasks that lied ahead of me. I pulled out my phone and decided to go my holy bible app. I was searching for something to guide me in the right way, and a way for me to spend time with the Lord during this stressful time. I decided to go to plans on the app, and came across a plan called "a moment to breathe - 5 day devotions that meet you in your everyday mess" It sounded perfect. Just what I needed in this exact moment, a moment to breathe. So often the world is spinning around us, and unless we take time to stop and admire the little things, life will pass us by. As I focused on taking a moment to breathe these last 5 days, I really noticed how important it is to have a designed time set out each day to spend time with the Lord, and breathe. When we become to stressed with school we often find distractions that stray us away from our work, and from God: our phones, TV, sleep, the list goes on. I know I often finish all of my work, and by the time I am done realize how late it is and go straight to bed, forgetting all about spending deep QUALITY time with God. Sure I say a prayer each night, but I often forget to really spend quality time with the Lord, really deepening our relationship. As I took a moment to breathe each night, not only did I become less stressed about schoolwork, but I felt much more revived and made new. On the first day, I read that we all have "stains" we want to hide, but Christ removes them when we SEEK him and ask him to. I LOVE this because it was the perfect thing I needed at the moment. I needed to be reminded how amazing his love is that it can remove our stains, and most importantly that I needed to SEEK HIM! (Ephesians 5:25) On the second day, I was reminded that God sees us as perfect, and God is our molder and perfecter. He is the perfecter of your faith, your soul, and every other part of you. Give everything to God and let him do the work through faith... and breathe- he sees you as complete, and that is all you need! (Hebrews 10:14) On the third day, I was told Christ is my mediator - He is pleading your case, interceding on your behalf, and claiming his blood over YOUR sins. You don't have to do more or be more, JUST HIS! You, the one with fears, difficulties, and mess-ups are his, and doesn't walk away from your difficulties. ( 1 Timothy 2:5-6) On the fourth day, I was reminded to only speak words that uplift those around us. Spending time with Jesus shows us to not be centered on one-upping one another, but rather have gratitude for others and doing everything for the Lord. When we confess our hatred, we will be healed to better love others! (1 John 4:20) And on the fifth day, I was reassured that God will never leave our side, and he is walking with us, weeping with us, and grieving with us at this very moment. He does all of these things because He LOVES us. Daniel 3:17 - " If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from your majesty hand" Even in the darkest times, God has not left you. Remain hopeful and trust. And most importantly, remember to take a moment to breathe each day, to give your troubles and joys to the Lord. He loves hearing from each and every one of you. Ephesians 6:18 - "Pray in the spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere."
