Anchor for the Soul
"We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain" - Hebrews 6: 19
As I was on a walk, I was praying to the Lord asking him to show me a sign of reassurance that he was always with me. As I prayed, I was listening to a song called Anchor by Hillsong Live. Throughout the song, I focused on the words the Lord was trying to show me. He pointed out that with his endless love all of my fear is swept away. I realized I had not been giving him my all, and had been trying to make it on my own. The lord gives EVERYTHING to save the world he loves, and there is no life he can't save because he never fails. Even when we don't give him our all, he gives everything to save us from the temptations and troubles we are facing. He has this promise for us - When we call upon his name, he will not let go, and he will be an anchor for our soul. Hebrews 6:19 gives us confidence in our faith, and reminds us the Lord is our safety and security. I went into researching a deeper understanding of Jesus as an anchor and came across something truly remarkable. Anchor was a symbol in this bible verse of hope. Anchors are often placed away from a ship right? Well just as an anchor which holds a ship is not in the exact place as the ship itself, our hope is not in the world. Christ has gone ahead of us in order to secure our salvation, we should have absolute confidence, and this confidence ought to lead us to pursue greater things than the world. HOW AMAZING! The lord is an "anchor" through our floods (hardships), and his security keeps us still. The more we pursue him, rather than the world, the more we will begin to grow in truth and love and our faith will be deepened. As you go through troubling times, or feel distant from the Lord, remember his promise to us: He will never leave you, because his steadfast love is an anchor for our soul. As exams approach, remember to work for the Lord, rather than yourself, and TRUST. He will never leave you, and he will be with you through it all. 1 Corinthians 15:57 - "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." No matter the outcome, our true victory comes from God, and that is all that truly matters.
